Inspired by the daily catch of the Central Coast and the modern cuisine of Europe’s seaside capitals, our team prepares thoughtful maritime fare in a casual, social atmosphere.

Elegant, yet approachable, our menu celebrates California seafood. We focus on such local luxuries as sea urchin, crab and halibut, and other exotic offerings.

Companion Hospitality, led by owners Greg and Daisy Ryan, operates restaurants that blend urban, global influences. We profoundly respect the artisans and abundant produce of California’s Central Coast.

Their family-run business model prioritizes community integration and offers employees equitable career opportunities. Each restaurant under Companion Hospitality’s umbrella reflects a balance of forward-thinking innovation and timeless appeal. Enhancing not only the dining scene in the Santa Ynez Valley but also contributing to the broader landscape of destination dining in California.

The team at Companion Hospitality includes a diverse group of professionals, each bringing their unique expertise and passion to the table. Executive Chef Brad Mathews, whose culinary journey began in New York, led him to specialize in coastal cuisine.  General Manager Jaime Gowans, brings a wealth of experience in sustainable hospitality. The team is committed to delivering memorable dining experiences.

Co-Chefs Luis Hernandez Gomez and Jose Gomez, along with the design expertise of Helvey Design Studio, contribute to the holistic vision of Companion Hospitality’s restaurants. With a focus on quality, community, and sustainability, we aim to redefine hospitality in the region. Honoring its rich culinary traditions and local resources.

At Peasants FEAST, every dish tells a story of community, heritage, and the journey from farm to plate. Chef Michael Cherney’s vision goes beyond serving food—we celebrate the people and places behind our ingredients.

Michael Cherney of Peasants Feast shares the passion he has today for sourcing his ingredients from local farmers and using the highest quality products available.

Their menu features everything from seasonally-shifting gourmet grilled cheese and the Atterdag Smash Burger, to locally-sourced salads and mouth-watering soups. Craving something sweet? Try their house-made ice cream (created by their daughter, Reina), or perhaps a freshly-baked cookie or Nannie’s frozen lime pie.

All breads and pastries are freshly baked every day; no bake offs and no “baked by others” – no exceptions.

SY Kitchen offers fresh, modern Italian dishes in any of the three rooms of their Italian-inspired California farmhouse.  Dinner is served in the Front Room where guests are warmly welcomed. Dine on the Porch with cushioned banquet seating and a bit of fresh air. Dining in the cozy Dining Room hosts family seating and private parties.

SY Kitchen pours some of the best wines from the Central Coast and Italy, and also offer  guests a friendly, welcoming environment.

Chef Luca Crestanelli, originally from Verona, Italy, where he earned a degree in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, began his U.S. culinary journey in 2010 as the Executive Chef for Bar Toscana in Brentwood. His dream of opening a rustic, locally-sourced restaurant materialized in 2013 when he partnered with Mike and Kathie Gordon, owners of Brentwood’s renowned Toscana, to create S.Y. Kitchen in downtown Santa Ynez.

S.Y. Kitchen embodies Crestanelli’s vision, offering Italian cuisine with a rural sensibility, sourcing ingredients from local fishermen, ranchers, farmers, and vintners. In 2020, Crestanelli expanded his culinary footprint by opening Nella Kitchen & Bar at the Fess Parker Wine Country Inn in Los Olivos, maintaining his commitment to fresh, authentic local cuisine.

Chef Luca’s younger brother, Francesco Crestanelli, joined him at S.Y. Kitchen, bringing his expertise from Verona, including French chocolate making and gelato training.

Mike and Kathie Gordon, ventured into the restaurant industry in 1989 with Toscana of Brentwood. Pursue their passion for creating warm, inviting dining experiences. Their partnership with Chef Luca at S.Y. Kitchen reflects their dedication to serving simple, fresh dishes. Offering a friendly environment, continuing their successful legacy in the Santa Ynez Valley.
