The Nichols brothers, Matt & Jeff, grew up in Ames, Iowa where their love of cooking, good food and a sense of family and community was nurtured. Located in the renowned Santa Rita Hills appellation of western Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County and established during the 1990s by the Gainey family, who have farmed in Santa Ynez Valley for four generations and were searching for an ideal site on which to cultivate the classic cool-climate varieties Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Named after owner Dan Gainey’s great-grandfather, Evan’s Ranch is just ten miles from the Pacific Ocean and benefits from its marine influence, which lengthens the growing season, limits crop yields, and produces grapes with ripe, concentrated flavors balanced by bright acidity and a refreshing minerality. This enables us to craft six very limited-production, world-class wines: Las Brisas and La Marina Chardonnays, Las Brisas and Lone Oak Pinot Noirs and Las Brisas and Lone Oak Syrahs.

Kaena is a boutique winery that sources from Tierra Alta Vineyard and Larner Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA , primarily. Winemaker, Mikael Sigouin, who is part Hawaiian and raised on the Oahu shores, uses a shortened version of his given name for the brand – Kaena – which means “potential for greatness”.

That “greatness” is evident in the wines – in 2006 Wine Spectator named Mikael one of the top 10 new Rhone producers. Known affectionately by his peers and fans as The Grenache King – Kaena produces 2,000 cases of Rhone & other varietals with an emphasis on Grenache.

Kaena has been serving up the Aloha in the Santa Ynez Valley for the last three years in the beautiful quaint town of Los Olivos. The vibe is welcoming, chill, relaxed. Happy Canyon Vineyard is nestled into the undulating hills of the beautiful Piocho Ranch. The Barracks have taken great pride over the years in being stewards of the land and along with their wine maker Doug Margerum, have created something that is unique to the beauty and richness of the place. Piocho, is a Chumash Indian word meaning “where the two rivers meet and go to heaven”. The ranch is also home to the “Piocho” polo team.

There are the top wines called Barrack Brand, Barrack Blanc and Barrack Ten–Goal and two companion wines; PIOCHO is the champion wine made mostly from Cabernet Franc. There is also a nouveau styled Bordeaux blend released each Easter (perfect with Spring Lamb) called CHUKKER.

Our wines are available on our website and in our new tasting room, located in Santa Barbara at 30 El Paseo, open 12pm – 6pm daily. For a truly special experience, we offer private, by appointment tastings at our ranch and vineyard.

Petroliana Collection

The Mendenhall Museum is a private collection located in California’s beautiful Santa Ynez Valley. The museum has one of the west coasts largest petroliana collections including gasoline pumps, globes, and porcelain gas, oil, & road signs. There are also race cars, racing memorabilia, license plates, gas & oil items, and other miscellaneous antiques.

This collection was started over fifty years ago by the late Jack Mendenhall and is carried on today by his son and daughter in law, Mark and Vickie.

We will schedule private tours for individuals and clubs. We host special events, such as weddings, birthday parties, class reunions, family reunions, anniversary’s, etc. We also have car and motorcycle club gatherings.

(BWC) Barbieri Wine Company was founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Paolo Barbieri. Prior to 2005, Paolo started making very small lots in his garage in Las Vegas. This eventually evolved into forming Barbieri Wine Company to set out to produce his own wine.

Svendsgaard’s Lodge – Interested in visiting Solvang? We are a resort lodge located in the heart of the Danish Village. The lodge has 48 units, including 18 mini-suites with gas log fireplaces. Nojoqui Falls Park in Solvang is able to accommodate large groups, Nojoqui has become a favorite site for company and family outings. Its location is convenient, yet far enough from civilization to be refreshing.

History of Nojoqui Falls Park

In 1944, the initial 58 acres of Nojoqui Falls Park were donated by the Petan Company. The westerly 27 acres were purchased in 1968.

Grass Mountain Trail

Grass Mountain Trail is a 5.2 mile out and back trail located near the towns of Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. Depending on the season, the trail may feature beautiful wildflowers which adds to its popularity. The trail is primarily used for hiking and rated as difficult; dogs on leash are also able to use this trail.

Starting off easy, this trail steadily increases in difficulty until the final mile directly up the side of the mountain to the peak. It is not the highest mountain in the area but has commanding views over most the surrounding area.

Midland School Trails

The Grass Mountain hiking trail is part of The Midland School trails, a private trail system opened to the public through the generosity of the school. Hikers must fill out a permit and parking pass at the trail head, where permit boxes are located.

Finding the Trailhead: Shortly after passing what was formerly Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, as you ascend Figueroa Mountain Road, you will cross over a cattle guard. Parking should be available on the right. Cross the street and find the trailhead where the permit box is located.
