Fess Parker Ranch Horseback Adventures offers 75-minute private and group rides across the stunning 714-acre Fess Parker Home Ranch in Los Olivos, CA. Your journey will take you through this scenic property, guided by a seasoned cowboy who’ll share tales of the Fess Parker Family’s rich history in Santa Barbara Wine Country. Up on the Upper Mesa of the Home Ranch, you’ll ride through the family estate, soaking in breathtaking 360-degree views of the Santa Ynez Valley. The adventure wraps up at Fess Parker Winery, where you’ll enjoy a complimentary, seated wine tasting experience. Finally, be sure to check out our full list of policies before booking.

Celebrating something special or want a private ride for a group bigger than 6? Drop us a line at horsebackadventures@fessparker.com to customize your ride. We can arrange picnic lunches, cheese boards, florals, photographers, and more for an additional fee.

POLICIES:

  • All riders must be 8 years or older. If you bring a child under 8 without prior approval, your ride will be canceled for safety reasons.
  • Maximum weight limit for riders is 240 pounds.
  • Our adventures are by reservation only; we can’t accommodate walk-ins.
  • Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. No-shows within 24 hours are non-refundable.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes early for paperwork and equipment fitting. Late arrivals will have their ride time shortened accordingly.
  • All rides guided by an experienced cowboy.
  • Tips for your guides are appreciated!
  • Guides may refuse rides for safety reasons without a refund.
  • No riding for anyone appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • We have horses for all experience levels. Please accurately disclose your riding ability as beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
  • Ride pace will match the lowest skill level in the group.
  • REQUIRED: Helmets and close-toed shoes with minimal heel.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule rides due to excessive heat for the safety of our guests, guides, and horses. If necessary, we’ll notify you in advance.
  • No smoking, vaping, or illegal drugs allowed on the property.

Enjoy an enchanting Santa Ynez Valley Horseback Rides along The Santa Ynez River. Go back in time to Old California on a quiet, unspoiled ride through nature. Perfect for families, couples and horse lovers of all ages.

All bookings receive the Wine Country Fun Pass with free wine tastings, deals and discounts at over 10 valley locations. Riders depart our cozy stable nestled along the tranquil Santa Rita Hills canyon, cross the river, all the while encountering abundant wildlife (eagles, deer, beavers). Rides offered daily year-around.

All kids 8-13 will get their own mount and be attached by lead line to their own guide. The Magical Pony Encounter Kids age 2 to 12 love our one-hour Pony Encounter which is a safe and fun way to learn about horses, with the option of a guided pony ride along the river trail.

Since 2009, Vino Vaqueros has been Santa Barbara Wine Country’s premier private horseback riding adventure. Embark on a 75-90 minute guided ride through the breathtaking landscapes of Santa Ynez Valley. Each private ride ensures you and your group have an exclusive and unforgettable experience.

After your scenic ride, unwind with a complimentary tasting of two varietals from Estelle Vineyards and enjoy a full glass of your favorite wine in our rustic barn. Bring snacks to savor with your wine in our charming outdoor picnic area.

Ride Details

  • Private Ride: $175 per person (minimum two riders)
  • Duration: 75-90 minutes (ride time; wine time is up to you!)
  • Days Offered: Every day except major holidays
  • Start Times: 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm (by reservation only; no walk-ins)

Important Notes

  • Rides are private and guided, with no mixed groups.
  • We will confirm your reservation via text within 24 hours. If you do not receive confirmation, please reach out to us.
  • A $50 deposit is required upon confirmation, with the balance due on-site after your ride.
  • A 24-hour cancellation policy applies. No-shows will be charged in full plus a 20% gratuity.
  • Group rides (6+ riders) receive a $10 discount per rider, with a mandatory 20% gratuity.

  • Suitable for all levels of riders; children 8+ welcome.
