In 2018 we started Rockets Red Wines to share amazing wines and highlight our time in the military while giving back to the veteran and local community.

Our winemaking style involves minimal intervention and just guiding the grapes on their path to wine. We experiment with native fermentation, letting nature work as intended.

The Sta. Rita Hills appellation is in Santa Barbara County, California. A cool-climate winegrape-growing region defined by two valleys on either side of the actual Santa Rita Hills and makes it a great place for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is that the Sta. Rita Hills runs east-west to the Pacific Ocean.

As the marine fog rolls in from the nearby Pacific Ocean through the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Ynez Valley winegrowing regions, we’re reminded of the ocean and the vineyards and wine – Seagrape, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills!

Story of Soil Winery

As a small winery, Story of Soil, we can put more time, attention, and care into our wines (than the larger wineries can afford to, really). To make wines of the highest quality, we select vineyards that are farmed with the greatest level of care.

Single Vineyard Focus

We focus on single varietal and single vineyard. Single vineyard allows us to focus on “the place” the grapes are farmed and single varietal will show how each varietal is affected by that place (i.e. soil and microclimate).

Old World Influences – Storm Wines

In the hills of Santa Barbara County, focussing on old world influences and new world techniques. The Mediterranean climate, diverse soils, and exciting new opportunities in this growing Central Coast wine region have combined to drive Ernst’s passion for producing his wine. You’re invited to experience the unique personality of both vintage and site in Storm Wines.

Focus Classical Style

Storm is focused on making classically styled wines in their winery from proven vineyards in the Santa Barbara wine region; and wines with personality of vintage and site, where elegance is favored. His brother, Hannes, launched Storm Wines-South Africa in 2012. His focus is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

Santa Barbara County has diverse soils and microclimates within the county – near Solvang and Los Alamos – make it a region with endless possibilities for cool climate wines.

Pence Vineyards & Winery –

As a small vineyard and winery, we are available by Appointment Only for Private Tours and Tastings of our Vineyards and Ranch. We are located in the Sta. Rita Hills of Santa Barbara County, and organically farm 38 acres of world-class Pinot Noir, Syrah, Gamay and Chardonnay.

Union-Pacific ticketing booth

Originally home to the Union-Pacific ticketing booth. At The Hideway Wine Co., you will find yourself lost in the aura that our vintage leather-covered stools and bar, antique brass fixtures, and Edison bulb lighting casts upon our unique and charming space.

Smallest Tasting Room

The smallest tasting room in Los Olivos, with the most style. One of the most historical buildings in Los Olivos, originally the train ticketing booth for the local freight train. The Hideaway will take you back in time. A few steps through the building, and you find yourself in a seemingly secret oasis outdoor patio with a fire pit, comfortable seating and Japanese maple shade  trees. Now, the wines… sip on 90+ point wines made from some of Santa Ynez valley’s premier vineyards made locally at our Buellton winery. Cheers
