Estate Winery

Purchased by Roger Bower in 2012, Crown Point Vineyards is an estate winery dedicated to crafting wines of the highest distinction. Nestled in the eastern-most foothills of the east-to-west transverse valley.  Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA (American Viticultural Area).

Crown Point is blessed with distinct climatic conditions and soil types that provide an ideal growing environment for Bordeaux varieties.

Winemaker Adam Henkel joined Roger in 2013. Adam, spent 10 years in the Napa Valley, including eight years at Harlan Estate in Oakville. He had long been fascinated by the viticultural diversity and geographical grandeur of Santa Barbara County. His pursuit at Crown Point has been to express the unique characteristics and individuality of the region’s preeminent vineyards through farming and winemaking at the highest possible level.

Roger engaged Philippe Melka in 2017 as part of his commitment to constant improvement and excellence.

Happy Canyon Vineyard is nestled into the undulating hills of the beautiful Piocho Ranch. The Barracks have taken great pride over the years in being stewards of the land and along with their wine maker Doug Margerum, have created something that is unique to the beauty and richness of the place. Piocho, is a Chumash Indian word meaning “where the two rivers meet and go to heaven”. The ranch is also home to the “Piocho” polo team.

There are the top wines called Barrack Brand, Barrack Blanc and Barrack Ten–Goal and two companion wines; PIOCHO is the champion wine made mostly from Cabernet Franc. There is also a nouveau styled Bordeaux blend released each Easter (perfect with Spring Lamb) called CHUKKER.

Our wines are available on our website and in our new tasting room, located in Santa Barbara at 30 El Paseo, open 12pm – 6pm daily. For a truly special experience, we offer private, by appointment tastings at our ranch and vineyard.

CrossHatch Winery

All of the wines produced by CrossHatch Winery are co-fermented blends sourced from Santa Barbara County vineyards. The idea of co-fermented wine is nothing new. Some of the best and oldest wines in the world are made this way, but with the micro-climates of Santa Barbara it really adds another layer to the process. Co-fermentation brings out and creates flavors in the wine that would not have existed otherwise. This makes the CrossHatch wine truly one of a kind.

Martellotto Wine Productions

The story of Martellotto (which means big hammer in Italian) begins in Alberobello in Puglia, Italy. My grandfather left the old country in 1918 to find a new, better life for himself and us. Given that my nonno produced wine in his basement for the local Italian community in the Bronx during Prohibition, it’s possible that my destiny in wine is genetically encoded.

This wasn’t my initial career trajectory; I intended to become a doctor. However, the allure and enticements of the vine were too strong to resist.

Balanced alcohol, oak tannins, and zippy acidity that make my lips smack are qualities of wines I find appealing. I believe great wine complements life. Wine is shared at peak moments and becomes a tool to make memories and experiences more vibrant. Wine is art and science, romantic and intimate, and it’s also fermented grapes.

The winery started in 2004 with a patch of raw earth, a bucket of grapevines and plenty of sweat from family and friends who joined to embark on the extraordinary. From this work emerged a commitment to produce authentic, handcrafted wines emblematic of the vintage, earth and effort.

Rhone Varietals

We focus on crafting elegant, alluring Rhone varietals with grapes sourced from extraordinary vineyards in the Santa Ynez Valley. We are the boutique in boutique, creating only 1,000 cases each vintage.

While we began making wine in the garage, we now offer barrel-tasting sessions at the winery along with vineyard tours and Grenache Roadshows for wine club members. The majority of our production is sold through our tasting room in historic, eclectic Los Alamos, California.

Our Focus

Clementine Carter elevates cool climate Rhône varieties grown in Santa Barbara Wine Country. We love all our varietals, especially Grenache and Mourvèdre. Grenache is challenging to farm with big clusters, big berries, and thick skins. Here, farming Grenache is about nuance. It’s about finding the right balance to bring out the elegant, finessed flavors of the wine.

Our Journey

I’ve worked with almost every Grenache vineyard in Santa Barbara County. I search for those that resonate with me and my goals. My aim is to deliver a pure wine experience with pure intention. After 20 years of making wine, I joke that I don’t really know what Grenache tastes like. Each wine should taste like its home.

The Ballard Canyon Blessings:

White Rock Magic

Our youthful, 2-million-year-old limestone provides vibrant acidity in every wine, while the dense clay topsoil retains just enough moisture. This powerful combination allows our vines to dig deep into the earth, soaking up rich nutrients and terroir without the need for irrigation.

The Tunnel of Love

Our fully exposed hillsides experience a constant flow of cool, Arctic air from the Pacific, creating a natural wind tunnel. This helps concentrate flavor in the grapes while reducing water loss and knocking down fungal threats, ensuring pristine fruit for the winery team.

Cool Night Chill

When night falls, the temperature drops by about 40°F, preserving acidity throughout the long growing season. Our nocturnal harvest captures the crisp freshness of these chilly nights, locking in vibrant flavors.

Anna and David deLaski started Solminer to fulfill a dream – to create sincere and well-balanced wines showcasing grapes from their 5-acre organic vineyard in Los Olivos, CA. The couple share a passion for elegant, food-friendly wines utilizing small lots of interesting varietals including Grüner Veltliner, Blaufränkisch and Syrah. They take great care in considering what goes (and doesn’t go) into the soils, barrels and bottles. Master Sommelier Paolo Barbieri

(BWC) Barbieri Wine Company was founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Paolo Barbieri. Prior to 2005, Paolo started making very small lots in his garage in Las Vegas. This eventually evolved into forming Barbieri Wine Company to set out to produce his own wine.

Wine Company Rhone Varietals

The objective was to produce Rhone Varietals from top vineyards located in Santa Barbara County. The approach was simple: work with great growers and use minimalistic wine making techniques without heavy oak influence.

Before and during the development of his wine company, Paolo worked in the restaurant business for over 30 years managing numerous world class wine lists from Europe and later in the United States exposing him to the best wines in the world, which ultimately shaped his approach for his own wines. During this time, Erin Kempe joined Paolo, and together they continued to fulfill their passion for wine making and developing hand-crafted boutique wines in Los Olivos, Santa Barbara county wine country.

Our vineyard and winery are the realization of his vision for the region.
