Historic Rancho

Bill Wathen and Dick Doré (the Foxen Boys) have been making wine together since 1985. They founded Foxen Vineyard & Winery at the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in Northern Santa Barbara County. Their dedication has remained the same: the creation of small production, sustainably-farmed, vineyard-focused wines using a straightforward and minimalist approach to winemaking.

Named in memory of William Benjamin Foxen, English sea captain and Dick’s great-great grandfather. Benjamin Foxen came to Santa Barbara in the early 1800’s. He purchased the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in 1837 with a Mexican Land Grant that totaled nearly 9000 acres, which comprised most of what is now known as Foxen Canyon. Captain Foxen adopted the distinctive anchor as his ranch cattle brand, which became the trademark of the Foxen Winery. We are proud that we have made our home on the now 2000-acre Rancho Tinaquaic, which remains in family hands.

In addition to its renowned wines, Foxen Vineyard & Winery invites guests to experience its charming tasting room, where they can indulge in guided tastings led by knowledgeable staff.

We produce a less traditional range of carbonic red wines like Gamay, a few pétillant-natural “pét-nat” (OG sparkling) wines as well as an annual bottling/kegging of hard apple cider fermented with fruit and botanicals from our small farm in Ballard, CA.

At Dreamcôte Wine Co., we believe life’s too short for boring wine! Born in 2012 by a group of passionate ladies, we started with just one ton of Riesling, crafted in a vibrant, off-dry (just a tad sweet) style designed to complement the fiery flavors of spicy Thai food. Fast forward to today, and we’re proudly crafting 1,000 cases of wine and hard cider every year!

We love to play with the unconventional in our little sandbox, and by “experimental,” we mean we’re not sticking to the mainstream. Think carbonic fermentation with quirky varietals like Pinot Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cab Franc, and—finally—Gamay! We’re talking undisgorged pét-nat bubbles and bottle-fermented cider, infused with fruits, hops, and herbs straight from our Ballard farm. It’s our way of taking a tiny escape from tradition—a mini-vacation in a glass. Don’t get us wrong, we adore classic wines, but sometimes you just want to sip something fun with a cocktail umbrella and loosen up a bit!

Our wines and ciders are laid-back, low in sulfur, and low in alcohol, perfect for pairing with your everyday meals—whether it’s burgers, a tomato sandwich, or that “what’s left in the fridge” soup. These are wines meant to be enjoyed now, not saved for a special occasion. After all, life’s for living!

About Los Olivos General Store

Inspired by an old general store on their family property, in 2012, Christina and Michael Larner opened the Los Olivos General Store. They placed a vintage gas pump in front of the store as a tribute to its past. This iconic pump now anchors the street corner and welcomes guests.

They wanted a perfect spot to sell their family wine and to offer gifts and handmade goods. The Larners found it in the historic Los Olivos Garage space in the heart of Los Olivos.

All are meticulously tended by Louis, who planted his first vines here in 1970. Our Story

Making friends is our business, and we are honored to share our wines with our friends. Inspired by my father, August A. Busch, Jr., who opened Grant’s Farm to the public in 1954, we continue his legacy of hospitality. Kim and I fell in love with Santa Barbara in 1998 and decided to raise our children amidst the beauty of the California coast and the joys of ranch life. Folded Hills became our haven, and we invite you to experience our wine, food, and way of life.

Legacy: We honor our heritage with wines named after family members, like the award-winning Lilly Rosé, August White, and Red blends.
Hands-On Approach: From tending animals to growing organic vegetables, our family is deeply involved in the ranch’s daily life. Meet our “farmily” of animals, including sheep, donkeys, mini horses, and even a camel and zebra!
Family: Our wines celebrate family, past and present, enriching and preserving our property for future generations.

The Authentic Nature of Wine

Liquid Farm

The name Liquid Farm describes the authentic nature of wine (liquid from farming), and reflects our strong belief that all great wines start in the vineyard. We focus on wines from one of the coolest of California AVAs: Sta. Rita Hills. It’s home to some of the most unique, ancient soils in North America and is perfect for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. We allow our wines to develop on their own with little intervention, resulting in well-balanced, food-friendly wines.

Liquid Farm began with a simple passion: to bring the elegance of European wines right here to California! Tired of not finishing local bottles, we dreamed of creating wines with lower alcohol and earth-driven character. So, we took a leap and decided to make the wine we loved, right in our backyard!

Meet the Team

Jeff Nelson – With 20+ years in the wine world, Jeff has worked with top Champagne and Burgundy houses. His vision for Liquid Farm came alive in 2009 with a little help from Brandon Sparks-Gillis of Dragonette Cellars!

James Sparks – A winemaker with a baker’s heart! James brings precision and passion to every bottle, blending his family’s baking roots with his wine expertise.

Our Journey

We started with four barrels of Chardonnay in 2009, planning to create one wine. But our wine had other ideas! Two barrels became our White Hill Chardonnay, evoking the minerality of Premier Cru Chablis. The other two turned into Golden Slope, reminiscent of the lush, textured wines of Meursault. Since then, we’ve expanded, crafting wines like La Hermana, Four, and our Bandol-inspired Rosé.

Our Mission

Liquid Farm is committed to honoring local viticulture and old-world flavors. We seek purity, acidity, and natural elegance—no shortcuts, just authentic character.

Liquid Farm is about the magic that happens above and below ground. Our label features a dandelion-inspired beet root, crafted by UK artist Val Littlewood, symbolizing the connection between earth and wine. Chanin Wine Co., dedicated to crafting wines from Santa Barbara County. These wines reflect the individual vineyard in which they are grown. We focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. For example, two grapes that are especially revealing of subtle differences in geography, geology and climate. Our grapes,  grown in Santa Barbara County, where cool coastal winds, diverse marine based soils and a long growing season provide an exciting and unique environment for Burgundian varieties.

Chanin-wine-co-vineyardsThe vineyards are the focus of all of our wines and each wine is made from grapes grown at one vineyard and not blended. We search out old vines and make wine from some of the oldest in the county. This allows us to make refreshingly balanced wines at lower alcohol levels than most California “blockbuster” or “cult” styled wines. Through low yields, improved farming techniques and gentle winemaking we aim to create a wine that pairs well with food and is delicious young but is also age-worthy. All of our vineyards are organic or sustainably farmed.

Our winemaking philosophy is rooted in representing each individual vineyard by emphasizing balance, finesse, and complexity. We avoid excessive alcohol, and modern winemaking additives (such as commercial yeasts, bacteria, enzymes) that can overshadow vineyard characteristics. We also do not filter our wines or use intrusive wine processing machines. The goal – to grow grapes that are so healthy none of the above is needed.

Established in 2000, Epiphany is renowned for its boutique Rhône varietal wines. We celebrate the thrill of discovery, highlighting favorites like Grenache and Syrah alongside lesser-known gems like Counoise, Marsanne, Roussanne, and more.

Our sparkling wine program, Fesstivity, launched in 2015, showcases the handcrafted quality of méthode champenoise winemaking. We source all fruit for this project from the Sta. Rita Hills.

Enjoy a 90-minute wine experience, seated in the scenic garden at Epiphany. The Bubble Shack is open Friday to Sunday.

Ken Brown Wines is recognized as one of Santa Barbara County’s pioneering winemakers and innovators. Among the first vintners to realize the tremendous promise for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in this cool-climate appellation in the mid-1970’s. Ken was also the first winemaker to introduce the Syrah grape. Consequently, he introduced the Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, to Santa Barbara County.

Along with an uncompromising drive for quality, Ken constantly reevaluates everything he does in his winemaking endeavors. With nearly 40 years’ experience in this region, Ken’s goal is to focus on exceptional Pinot Noir from leading vineyards in Santa Rita Hills and several other select locations in the county.

With the introduction of Ken Brown Wines in 2005, he can optimize the best sources of Pinot Noir with uncompromised winemaking. His wines feature Pinot Noir in addition to limited bottlings of Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

Crafting small batches of premium Pinot Noir

Ken Brown Wines focuses on crafting small batches of premium Pinot Noir sourced from Sta. Rita Hills’ finest vineyards. Situated in Buellton, at the gateway to the Sta. Rita Hills appellation. The winery produces limited quantities, typically around 1,500 cases annually, with most lots containing 250 cases or less. Working closely with long-standing growers, including Sanford & Benedict, Radian, Rita’s Crown, and La Encantada, Ken Brown hand-selects vineyard blocks to showcase the region’s terroir.

With a career dedicated to mastering Pinot Noir, Brown’s journey began at Zaca Mesa Winery, leading to a 20-year tenure at Byron Vineyard before establishing Ken Brown Wines. His passion for experimentation, exploring various clones, rootstocks, soils, and winemaking techniques, underscores his commitment to unlocking Santa Barbara County’s Pinot Noir potential.

Brown’s association with Sta. Rita Hills dates back to 1976. Then he encountered Richard Sanford and Michael Benedict, igniting his fascination with the region’s wines. Launching his label in 2003 reignited his enthusiasm, propelling him to pursue even greater quality. Guided by decades of experience, Brown remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of Pinot Noir excellence in Santa Barbara County.

Kaena is a boutique winery that sources from Tierra Alta Vineyard and Larner Vineyard in the Ballard Canyon AVA , primarily. Winemaker, Mikael Sigouin, who is part Hawaiian and raised on the Oahu shores, uses a shortened version of his given name for the brand – Kaena – which means “potential for greatness”.

That “greatness” is evident in the wines – in 2006 Wine Spectator named Mikael one of the top 10 new Rhone producers. Known affectionately by his peers and fans as The Grenache King – Kaena produces 2,000 cases of Rhone & other varietals with an emphasis on Grenache.

Kaena has been serving up the Aloha in the Santa Ynez Valley for the last three years in the beautiful quaint town of Los Olivos. The vibe is welcoming, chill, relaxed. Estate Winery

Purchased by Roger Bower in 2012, Crown Point Vineyards is an estate winery dedicated to crafting wines of the highest distinction. Nestled in the eastern-most foothills of the east-to-west transverse valley.  Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA (American Viticultural Area).

Crown Point is blessed with distinct climatic conditions and soil types that provide an ideal growing environment for Bordeaux varieties.

Winemaker Adam Henkel joined Roger in 2013. Adam, spent 10 years in the Napa Valley, including eight years at Harlan Estate in Oakville. He had long been fascinated by the viticultural diversity and geographical grandeur of Santa Barbara County. His pursuit at Crown Point has been to express the unique characteristics and individuality of the region’s preeminent vineyards through farming and winemaking at the highest possible level.

Roger engaged Philippe Melka in 2017 as part of his commitment to constant improvement and excellence.

At Crown Point Vineyards, we offer a unique tasting experience to help educate our members and guests as to why our estate is an ideal place for growing Bordeaux varieties. The private tour & tasting allows you to learn how Crown Point was founded, share Roger Bower’s vision for this special property, and experience, first-hand, that no expense has been spared to develop the vineyard and winery. The experience starts with a guided tour through 50 acres of estate vineyards followed by a walking tour through the winery and barrel rooms. The tour finishes with a seated tasting of our estate wines and a cheese pairing.

We will do whatever we can to accommodate friends of Crown Point. All tastings are by appointment only, and we can arrange private visits on a limited basis for members and guests Monday through Friday.
